Основной формой учебного процесса издавна признается урок. Включая в себя разнообразные коллективные, групповые и индивидуальные занятия учащихся, урок предполагает хорошую подготовленность учителя в области педагогической теории и психологии, а также его умение применять знания в своей педагогической работе с конкретными детьми.

Нет сомнения в том, что современный урок призван развивать познавательный интерес и способности школьников, служить важным средством их общего развития. Его задача – научить ребенка мыслить, рассуждать, аргументировать свои суждения.

Именно в связи с этой задачей учителя и ставят вопрос о необходимости воспитания у школьников интереса к учебе. Сущность вопроса сводится к созданию у них таких психических состояний, при которых им хочется овладеть умениями и навыками. Урок и другие нетрадиционные формы: за круглым столом, брейн-ринг, КВН, урок-концерт, урок- встреча, урок-экскурсия, урок-викторина – выступают при этом в роли средства для достижения цели.

Следовательно, любая форма, любой метод и прием обучения не может считаться эффективным, если он не способствует воспитанию самостоятельности у детей, развитию их интеллектуальных способностей. И хороша та форма, тот метод и прием, при использовании которого учитель обеспечивает для плодотворной работы, учебной деятельности такое психическое состояние учащихся, при котором им хочется учиться, мыслить, действовать. Особенно интересны, эффективны и любимы детьми уроки-соревнования, уроки-викторины, где присутствует дух коллективизма, переживания за свою команду, дух соперничества, стремления победить и получить награду.

В данной статье привожу сценарий урока викторины “Что? Где? Когда?” по теме “Америка”. Викторину следует проводить после прохождения темы по учебнику English IV под редакцией И. Н. Верещагиной, О. В. Афанасьевой.

Тема урока: Америка.

Форма проведения: викторина

Учебная цель:

1) совершенствование навыков аудирования и устной речи;

2) обобщение и закрепление материала, пройденного на предыдущих уроках.

Общеобразовательная цель: формирование у учащихся представления о стране, истории и культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Воспитательная цель: воспитание уважительного отношения к стране изучаемого языка, к ее людям, истории и традициям.

Оборудование: карта Америки, флаг, герб, запись с текстом для аудирования, магнитофон, мультимедийное оборудование, слайды с достопримечательностями страны.

План урока.

1. Организационный момент.

Приветствие учителя, объявление темы и правил игры – викторины.

Dear friends! Welcome to the Club “What? Where? When?” The theme of today’s meeting is America.

This is team 1. Stand up, please! The captain of the team is A.

This is team 2. Stand up, please! The captain of the team is B. You may sit down.

Now listen to my explanation of the rules. I’ll ask you questions about the USA and you have only 20 seconds to answer my question. If the answer is wrong you score no point. If the answer is right you score one point. Teams start answering in turns.

Well, let’s start Round 1. Team 1, the first question is for you.

2. Let’s start Round 2. Listening Comprehension. Listen to the text “What Does the Average American Do?” and try to understand it.

The average American watches TV four hours a day.

The average American goes to the dentist ones a year.

The average American reads the newspaper every day.

The average American eats 3 hamburgers a week.

The average American drinks a cup and a half of coffee a day.

The average American lives in a house.

The average American eats at a fast food restaurant once a month.

The average American listens to the radio 2 hours a day.

The average American goes to bed before 12:00.

The average American wears pyjamas to bed.

Учащимся предлагают карточки с заданиями. Всего шесть карточек, шесть заданий по пройденному материалу. На подготовку отводится 5 минут. Затем один из участников команды отвечает, а другие могут дополнять его рассказ.

I have some cards with the tasks. You will draw the card you like. I’ll give you 5 minutes to get ready to speak about America and Americans. One of you will tell the story, the other members of your team can help you.

Задания.

1. Speak about the discovery of America.
2. Speak about the first English settlements in the New World.
3. Say what you can about Native Americans.
4. Name all holidays you know that people celebrate in America. Speak about one of them.
5. You have learnt about 4 American symbols. What are they? What do you know about them?
6. Speak about every day life in America.

Ответ оценивается по пятибалльной системе. Подводятся итоги третьего тура викторины. Объявляется счет.

4. Dear friends, let’s start Round 4, the last round. Now we’ll see how well you know the sights of America. I’ll give you some photos. In three minutes you will tell us what you see in the pictures.

Учащимся были предложены следующие слайды с достопримечательностями Америки:

1. The Capitol.
2. The White House.
3. The Statue of Liberty.
4. The Washington Monument.
5. The NASA Museum. Washington D. C.
6. Disneyland. Los Angeles.

С этими заданием обе команды справились успешно. К каждому слайду были сделаны надписи и затем зачитаны вслух.

Жюри подводит итоги викторины. Учитель объявляет результат.
