Урок английского языка в 8-м классе по теме Добро пожаловать в Америку!

Задачи урока:

1. Обучение навыкам устной речи (монолог и диалог);
2. Активизация лексики по теме “Путешествие”, и ранее изученных структур;
3. Совершенствование грамматических навыков в процессе общения;
4. Воспитание уважения к традициям, культуре страны изучаемого языка;
5. Развитие познавательного интереса учащихся в изучении иностранного языка.

Оборудование:

• Флаг Америки (рисунок уч-ся);
• Карта Америки; карта города Атланты;
• Фотографии достопримечательностей Америки;
• Рисунки по теме “Halloween”;
• Таблички со словами по теме “Аэропорт”;
• Кроссворд, пособия для игры “Угадай-ка”;
• Бланки въездной визы;
• Магнитофон.

Над доской в классе – высказывание:

“All mistakes are O.K,
Everyone makes them!”

Заранее подготовлены таблички для Аэропорта : airport ,main lobby, exit, entrance, duty-free shop, customs, passport control, information, check-in, tickets, baggage claim, foreign exchange, lost and found .

Ход урока

Teacher: Dear friends! Today we have unusual lesson- we’ll make a trip to America! Don’t be afraid, remember these words:

“All mistakes are O.K.,
Everyone makes them!”

(Звучит мелодия “America the beautiful!”).

Teacher: Who knows this music?

Pupil: This is the national anthem of America.

Teacher: Yes, sure! “America the beautiful”. Americans love their country and now we’ll have a trip to America and you’ll tell everything what you know about this country, it’s history, customs and traditions.

Teacher: Before our trip I want to ask you some questions about the USA.

1. Who discovered America? (Christopher Columbus)
2. Who was the first president of the USA? (George Washington)
3. What is the national symbol of America? (The bald eagle)
4. What is the capital of the USA? (Washington)
5. What can you see on the American flag? (50 stars, 13 stripes, white and red colors)
6. What is the largest city of America? (New York)
7. When do Americans celebrate the Independence Day? (July, 4)

- Well done! Thank you! And what do the people do before their trip?

Of course, they pack their things. What things will you put in your SUIT-CASES?

(Проводится аукцион, кто больше знает слов по теме).

Называют предметы в дорогу по теме “Путешествие”.

Teacher: Well, let’s go to the airport! And do some exercises with music and sing the song!

SONG:

One finger, one thumb- keep moving! (3)
We are all very happy and bright!
1 finger, 1 thumb, 1 arm, 1 leg, 1 nod of the head, stand up ,sit down!

На доске – табличка “AIRPORT ” и таблички с названиями отделов аэропорта. Учитель читает некоторые слова и просит перевести их на русский язык.

- Now we are at CUSTOMS. Listen to the dialogue between Customs Inspector and one of you. Who wants?
- O.K.! (ученики выходят к доске и разыгрывают сценку “На таможне”).
- Where are you from?
- I am from Russia.
- Are you traveling alone?
- No, I am traveling with my teacher and my classmates.
- What is the purpose of your visit?
- We want to see America.
- Where are you going to stay?
- In Atlanta with American families.
- Do you have anything to declare?
- No, I don’t.
- Open your luggage, please.
- Here you are!
- Have a good time in America!
- Thank you!
- That’s all right! Now I’ll give you the sheets of paper and you’ll fill them before arriving to America.

(Учитель раздает бланки въездной визы и ученики заполняют их на английском языке). Затем все бланки учитель собирает, чтобы поставить оценки за эту работу.

Teacher:

- And now we are on a plane! How do you feel? Fine! Remember some English sayings and proverbs. Переведите на английский язык:
- В гостях хорошо, а дома лучше! (East or west, home is best!)
- Нет ничего лучше родного дома! (There’s no place like at home).
- Никогда не поздно учиться. (It’s never too late to learn).
- Поспешишь, людей насмешишь !. (Haste makes waste).
- А теперь я предлагаю вам поиграть в игру “Подбери слова ” и из первых букв сложите пословицу, прочтите и переведите её.

(Получилась пословица: “LIVE AND LEARN ”- “ВЕК ЖИВИ, ВЕК УЧИСЬ!”)

Teacher: And now we are in New York, at Kennedy Airport. May I introduce you Natalie? She is a Russian girl but she has been living in America for 2 years. She is studying English here. Natalie will be our guide.

Natalie (ученица старших классов): Hi! I am very glad to meet Russian people in America. Now we shall go to Atlanta by plane.

I want to tell you about Atlanta. We’ll be there in an hour. Atlanta, Georgia- is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA, it’s the capital of state Georgia. Look at the map! You can find it in the North central part of Georgia. Georgia is famous for its magnolia trees and beautiful flowers. Like many big cities, Atlanta is multicultural city. People from all over the world call Atlanta their native home.

Dr. Martin Luther King, the hero of America, lived in Atlanta. He was brave, he wanted people of all races to march together for peace love. He was a Minister and his church is here in Atlanta.

Atlanta is the hometown of some famous companies such as Coca - Cola, Delta Air Line and CNN. CNN reports the news all over the world.

Sports are very popular in Atlanta . Atlanta has a baseball and a basketball teams .

Have you read the book “Gone with the wind”? The author of this famous book,

Margaret Mitchell, was from Atlanta too.

Have any questions about Atlanta? NO? Well, and now I want to ask you some questions about America.

- What American holidays do you now?

Ученики называют все известные праздники Америки.

In January – New Year’s Day, Birthday of Martin Luther King;
In February – Valentines Day, President’s Day;
In March – St. Patrick’s day;
In April – Take your daughter to Work Day Easter;
In May – Mother’s Day;
In June – Father’s Day;
In July,4 – Independence Day;
In October,12 – Columbus Day, Halloween.

Natalie: Oh! Halloween is the best holiday for children. Who can tell us about Halloween?

(Ученик рассказывает о празднике Хэллоуин).

Pupil: We know the Halloween song! Let’s sing “This is Halloween”.

(Ученики поют песню).

Natalie: Great! Excellent! And what about other American holidays?

Pupil:

In November – Thanksgiving Day.
In December – Christmas.

- And what American holiday do you like the best of all?

Pupils: Valentine’ s Day! (ученики рассказывают о Дне Святого Валентина. Дарят друг другу “валентинки”- маленькие красненькие сердечки).
Teacher: We have had an interesting lesson today! I’ll give you excellent marks! Thank you very much! The lesson is over! Have a rest! Good bye!
