I. Приветствие.
Teacher (T): Good morning, everybody!
Pupils (P): Good morning, teacher!
T: Nice to see you. I hope you are all feeling good today.
P: We are OK. Thank you.
T: Is everything all right with your homework?
II. Проверка домашнего задания.
T: Well, let’s check your homework. What advice on table manners would you give to someone visiting your country?
Учащиеся читают советы, которые они написали дома.
T: Thank you. Most of you have done that very well. Let’s think of what is usual or unusual for our country?
III. Сообщение целей урока.
T: Today we are going on to speak about good manners. You will learn some special customs and manners people follow in Great Britain. Then we’ll compare Russian and British customs and manners.
III. Работа с иллюстрациями в учебнике.
T: Open your books at page 129, ex.2, please. Look at the pictures. You can see Misha and Rob having dinner in the school dining room. A very strict teacher Angela Nasty is watching them. She wants everything to be done properly. Please, read and translate.
Now let’s do ex.4 p.130. Look at the pictures. Match the pictures and the meanings.

T: Say what we must and mustn’t do at the table.

V. Тренировка речевого умения.
T: Foreigners cannot be expected to learn all the customs that exist in Russia. You can help foreign visitors to avoid manners that can get them into trouble with the Russians. Make a list of tips for them.
Учащиеся составляют высказывания.
Pupil 1: Russians are expected to take off their shoes entering someone’s house.
Pupil 2: Russians are expected to give up their seat in favour of the people who need it.
Pupil 3: Russians are supposed to make way for a girl or older people.
Pupil 4: Russians are supposed to say «good appetite» to people that are having a meal.
Pupil 5: Men shake hands when they meet friends.
VI. Работа с текстом песни.
T: Today I want you to prepare for the good reading. Listen to a poem and try to read it in the same manner.

VII. Домашнее задание.
The British are well-mannered people, aren’t they? But some older people, and not only in Britain, think that today young people are bad-mannered. At home write a list of things your family doesn’t like.
